Looking for a change of scenery?  We seek a Registered Nurse with previous operating room Director's level experience at a busy trauma center for the role of Director of Surgical Services. In this role you will be accountable for the management and operation of Surgery, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, and the Anesthesia Department on a 24 hour basis.  You will be responsible for the development of and maintenance of interdisciplinary relationships between all levels of departmental personnel as well as the institution as a whole. Your responsibilities include development, maintenance and coordination of departmental operations.  These operations promote patient care and staff development including but not limited to: policy and procedure, quality control, the management and continuous maintenance of staffing and human resources, the development of personnel in the department.  You will be responsible for the monitoring of Continuous Quality Improvement activities.  You will be responsible for strategic planning and management of financial resources.  These duties include budget development, purchase and maintenance of equipment, and maintenance of human resources within budgetary guidelines. Access to all Patient Health Information. 
 
Candidates must have a Master’s Degree (MBA, MHA, MSN or equivalent) and five (5) or more years of perioperative experience. Must have at least three (3) years of Director's level experience.  Must demonstrate knowledge of current nursing theory and practice. Must be a compassionate, non-judgmental patient caregiver and advocate.  Must be able to tolerate physically and mentally demanding work. Must be able to set both short and long term goals and meet these goals.  Must be able to identify opportunities for improvement and resolution.  Must possess teaching skills to promote optimum orientation and continuing staff education.  Must possess knowledge of healthcare trends for both inpatient and outpatient populations and demonstrates the ability to apply this knowledge in clinical and administrative settings.
