We’re working on behalf of a 164-bed acute care facility that has proudly served the San Luis Obispo community since its inception in 1959.  The hospital provides the county’s only da Vinci Surgical Robot program, offering minimally invasive, highly accurate surgical procedures.  The hospital also offers five services – Neurosurgery, High-risk pregnancy care, Pediatric care, Trauma care, Neonatal intensive care - that are offered by no other hospital in San Luis Obispo County.  The hospital’s mission is to provide the highest quality, most innovative health care to the patients they serve, to maintain and enhance cooperative relationships with doctors, payers, and employees and to continually improve the health of county residents. The hospital is designated a Primary Stroke Center by The Joint Commission, and the its Diagnostic Center is certified by the American College of Radiology as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence.

Looking for a great opportunity?  We seek a California licensed RN with three (3) or more years of clinical leadership experience in Labour & Delivery/Women's Services for the role of Director of Women & Children's Services.  The person in this role will be accountable for the management of the department.  She/he will function with initiative and appropriate independent judgment.  She/he will be responsible for the development of and maintenance of interdisciplinary relationships between all levels of departmental personnel.  The Director’s performance and behavior shall be both reflective and supportive of the Mission Statement and Core Values of the hospital.  Responsibilities include development, maintenance and coordination of departmental operations.  The Director assures safe patient care and staff development.  Other duties include but not limited to: developing policies and procedures, assuring quality control including managing the departmental operations and capital equipment budgets, the management and continuous maintenance of staffing and the development of personnel in the department.  The Director is responsible for managing Continuous Quality Improvement activities, risk prevention of infection, and staff adherence to evidence-based nursing practice.

Candidates must have a Bachelors's degree in Nursing and hold current RN licensure in the State of California.  Must have current American Heart Association BLS (maintain current at all times) and NRP.  Must have three (3) or more years of management experience in L&D/Women's Services. Fetal Monitoring certification is desired. Must have effective verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to maintain positive working relationships with patients, families, co-workers, and physicians inter- and intra-departmentally.  Must possess active listening skills.  Must demonstrate knowledge of current nursing theory and practice.  Organizational and multi-tasking skills are essential.
