Located in the heart of the San Joaquin Valley (75 miles east of San Francisco and 15 miles south of Stockton), Manteca is centered among some of California's most popular tourist attractions. The city is a showcase for its agricultural heritage, as well as home to new and expanding high tech industries. Manteca itself is a relatively young town, first settled by a few pioneer farmers in the heart of one of the greatest agricultural areas in the world. A combination of good soil, excellent climate, and clean water has insured its destiny as a prosperous farming center. With over 72,000 residents, the city is one of the fastest growing in California. Many newcomers are locating from the San Francisco Bay area thanks to its welcoming and friendly residents, geography, easy freeway access, ACE train, and abundance of recreational activities.
